Which stronghold is the best

Posted January 31, Posted February 03, Posted February 04, I agree that Stronghold 2 is awful. After just the first 2 or 3 missions I was overwhelmed. In fact, I reached a level I never was able to complete and took a couple months off, then came back, started over and still couldn't complete that level. I won't ever try again. It's too much going on.

I also hate the micro management in the second or third level where your buildings constantly burn. I had water boys everywhere but they still burn. In essence, the building takes damage until the fire is doused so the building will eventually be destoyed.

It's just a matter of time. I hate that game. Posted April 18, I have played every Stronghold title except Crusader Extreme. I like Stronghold Crusader the best. The original is very good as well. I agree that Stronghold 2 overemphasises micro-management.

Its ok, but you need to change your tactics. In Stronghold original you can pump up your economy by adding a few more houses and you get an instant workforce; you only need to add a few farms to feed everyone. When you use that strategy in Stronghold 2 it can backfire. A larger population in S2 means you need to add a "Dung Farmer" to haul away waste, a Falcon Trainer to kill the rats brought on by a high population, and others. It almost gets to the point that you need more workers to accommodate one new house than the house provides.

The way to win in S2 is to keep your population as small as possible and still train an army. Now Stronghold Legends does not have all the problems of Stronghold 2 even though it uses the same engine. However it has its own issues A castles protection is limited when it can have its walls brought down by a wizard or flown over by a dragon.

You need degree troop deployment. This one I only finished a few levels before returning to Crusader. While all of these disciplines are fun to play, there The games interface could have been a bit more streamlined, as one sometimes has to wade through unnecessary info to find relevant messages. Set in the Middle Ages, the game also introduced a new 3D graphics engine and a slew of new features.

As ruler of a medieval castle, the player has control over a lot of the features the game is known for, such as building, food production and other civil duties, only this time around peasants automatically choose their jobs which reduces the micromanagement issues that plagued earlier titles.

New peace and military campaigns have been added in addition to the standard game modes such as Siege, Custom scenario and Kingmaker. The 3D-rendered graphics also allow for an unprecedented level of detail which proves useful when dealing with issues of rat and waste management.

Aside from the new 3D engine, the graphics still appear a bit outdated when compared to other games in the genre like Medieval: Total War or Castles II. The lack of multiplayer support also makes competing with AI-controlled enemies dull and repetitive over the long term. There have also been several complaints regarding jagged frame rates and lag issues experienced in certain sections of the game.

Unlike its predecessors, the new installment gives players a choice of rulers to start the game with, on offer is; Siegfried of Xanten, Count Vlad Dracul and King Arthur. Cooperative multiplayer allows one to team up with a friend against the AI-controlled opponents and various online game modes like Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, and Deathmatch are also available. Dragons are available to all units and rulers are not bound to their set historical placement and players have the option of customizing the experience as they see fit.

Although it used the same graphics engine as Stronghold 2 , the visuals saw a definite improvement with the inclusion of some new tracks as well. Alice Bell 22 hours ago 5.
